Why is tallow used in soap?

Hot showers often leave the skin feeling tight because they strip away the skin’s natural protective barrier – lard helps prevent this.

Lard is rich in vitamins A, D, E and K and is similar in composition to natural skin fats, so it intensely nourishes and moisturizes the skin, unlike vegetable oils or petroleum-based waxes.
